Burj Khalifa

To me, this image is about contrasts. I am in a restaurant on the 22nd floor looking out over Dubai City. In the foreground, there’s an older settlement. It is relatively low and unassuming houses that get a light, slightly yellowish hue – maybe by the sun and the surrounding sandy areas. Further afield in the bluish haze, the ultra-modern skyscrapers rise in Business Bay, one of three areas of Dubai where most of the high risers are located. In the center, and on top of everything, is Burj Khalifa. With its 828 meters and 163 floors, this is the tallest building on earth.
