Calçada Portuguesa

One of the first things that struck me as I strolled the streets of Lisbon was the pavements. When I looked it up, it turned out that Calçada Portuguesa – the mosaic pavement – was born in Lisbon in the mid-1800s. It consists of small flat pebbles (usually black and white) arranged in different patterns. Pretty cool if you ask me! This picture is shot a late evening at Praça do Rossio (Rossio Square) in Lisbon.
